Off
the shelf a standard Ducati is a very capable machine. For some its their
breath taking beauty that is enough to get them scourging for the cheque
book. Out of the crate a standard Ducati is undoubtedly elegant and a
very capable machine. On road or track their tractable power delivery
combined with a confidence inspiring chassis make them very difficult
to surpass in the “user friendly stakes”. But, could they
and should they be better?
Consider the following;
When
you buy a car you very quickly adjust to its individual quirks! Immediately
you set about adjusting seat and steering wheel positions to make yourself
comfortable, perhaps revising this position slightly as time passes and you
settle in. After driving it for a while you realise that it wallows a little
here and there and when pushed a little further develops some rather unpleasant
tendencies that make the cat feel a little unsafe and which seems to be reached
at even lower speeds in wet or damp conditions, altogether very unnerving.
For most of us that’s where it ends. In the following years of ownership
we simply drive it, tolerate the handling quirks warts and all, unaware of
any beneficial changes that could made that would make our cars more comfortable
and at the same time provide safer/better handling.

Well, as you all know we all come in different shapes and sizes, or
combinations of weights and sizes when referring to the potential number
of occupants that could be sitting in that car of yours! In a car we get
away with it simply because we are able to! The degradation in handling
due to a over laden vehicle, even a slow puncture goes unnoticed for far
to long. Four wheels, a metal roof over our heads, a radio and of course
those comfortable seats all contributing to mask us from the dangers of
that, albeit slowly deteriorating handling!
With a motorcycle you could take the same view as the driver of the
car albeit not having the apparent creature comforts of being able to
make any seating/posture changes to the machine. It’s simply ridden
away it as it comes out of the crate, warts and all, unaware of any beneficial
changes that could be made to improve comfort, handling and of course
the riders safety.
Our philosophy both on the road or racetrack it to provide the experience
and expertise to allow the rider to realise those changes, helping them
change handlebar, foot peg and seating position. Implement changes to
an engines power/characteristics, change suspension and chassis geometry
where beneficial and last but by no means least provide the right braking
attributes to suit the application.
All with the simple goal of making the man machine relationship better! |
