The UltiMap U59 ECU, like the Eproms,
is specifically re-mapped to suit each particular bike with a
particular exhaust type. Your Ducati 998 may have Termignoni,
LeoVince, or Akrapovic mufflers fitted, but the performance is
no better than the standard system. The fuel maps are wrong.
Manufacturer's goals aren't the
same as the buyer's goals. Their ECUs are compromised to meet
stringent noise and emissions standards, have good fuel economy,
and accomodate variations in engine tune and exhaust systems safely.
In other words, they are DE-TUNED ! Most owners are interested
in two things: Power and Acceleration. These are not really primary
goals of the manufacturer, and their ECUs are made accordingly.
Also, the factories do not allow for mixture variations between
the two cylinders of their engines, which means that one is always
richer than the other. Typically in the mid-range this produces
very rough running.
Ultimap ECUs are individually mapped
for each cylinder. Brake dynos are used to test each point in
the operating range, and adjust each cylinder separately for ideal
combustion. This ideal is dependant on both RPM and throttle position,
because the mixture must vary to produce the best result; either
cruise, pickup, or top-end power.
These products produce vastly superior
mid-range throttle response and smoothness, and allow the engine
to produce maximum top-end power as well - this is a complicated
process which few companies are capable of. The rev-limiter is
also raised by 500 - 800 RPM to give you more room to move.
All UltiMap ECUs are compatible with the software mapping system,
which means we can adjust the system to suit your needs. We can
adjust fuel, spark, sensor corrections, and much more in a simple
and quick operation.

The U59 ECU has the following features:
- Plug-in equivalent of Weber IAW 59M ECU.
- Disables the Immobiliser function for all models. You can use
the U59 on a race or track bike without the ignition
key, immobiliser aerial, and immobiliser unit.
- Supplied pre-mapped for most applications - slipon mufflers,
revised cam timing, etc.
- Fully mappable for Fuel Map, Rear cylinder Correction Map, Spark
Map, and Rev Limiter using a new version
of our Mapper program (available to dealers)
- Can be operated in Road Mode (all side-stand cutouts, starter
button, clutch switch etc. functional) or Track Mode
(Kill Switch only) so you don't need to wreck your wiring harness
to go to the track.
- Each cutout function can also be individually set if you wish.
- The Dashboard Water Lamp or ECU check lamp can be used as a
Programmable Shift Light in addition to the warning
function.(Some models only)
- Can be diagnosed using the Ducati Mathesis Tester or our UltiMap
Diagnostics Software.
